February 2014 Check-In
Crossfit, Olympic Lifting, Real Life, Workout

Wow I feel like I blogged SO MUCH in January because of the FDU meet, and then pretty much not at *all* the past week. Meep. I’ll work on that.

Anyhow, what’s new this month?

Well… I officially sent off my registration for the NYC Open on March 16th, so that’s a thing I’m doing for sure! I’m pretty nervous about it, actually… but my coach is helping me write a taper for it so I’ll get experience actually preparing for a meet in an organized way, as opposed to my crazy “hey let’s just jump into this like a maniac!” approach from FDU… So that should be fun.

Alright, let’s get into the goods:

February 2014 Health Stats

Height: 5’5”
Weight: 146.4 [-.08  (This Month)] [-8.6 (From Start)]
Muscle Mass: 35.5% [+.1 (This Month)] [+.7 (From Start)]
Bone Mass: 4.9% [Static]
Body Water: 54.5% [+.1 (This Month)] [+0.7 (From Start)]
Body Fat: 22.4% [-.2  (This Month)] [-1.2(From Start)]

PHEW ok. After last month I was really messed up about “the numbers” but this month I’m definitely back on track with where I kind of expect to see myself. Thinking about oly meets, with my current weight I’m smack dab in the middle of the 69kg category, which is a good place to be because if I randomly gain a few pounds I’m not out of my category… and with lifting and muscle and whatnot, who knows what’s going to happen, right?

PR Updates

Soooo before I went to write this post I had NO IDEA that I pulled so many PRs this month. This is awesome!

Back Squat: 215 (+20#)
C&J: 145# (10#)
FS: 175 (10#)
OHS: 145 (15#)
Power Snatch: 110# (Untested)
Pull Ups: 2 (+1)
Row 5k: 32:28 (Untested)
Shoulder Press: 95# (5#)
Snatch: 110# (5#)

Ok so… all that aside… I decided to set some annual goals for myself for various reasons I don’t think I’m ready to put out there yet. We’ll see, maybe soon. ANYHOW, by the end of 2014 I want to be able to Snatch 150# and Clean & Jerk 200#. For reasons.

There.

I said it.

Crazy? Probably. But I’m a crazy person. So whatever. My friends and coaches think it’s totally reasonable, so I’m going to work really hard to get in my head that they’re just numbers and I can totally do this. Right? Right.

Before I go, I’ll leave you with this bonus video from oly class on Monday – it’s jumpy and weird, but I’m working on keeping my heels down and not pulling early… so we’ll get there, right?
