Crossfit Update and Monthly Check-In
Crossfit, Real Life, Workout

It’s thaaaat time again! The 11th of the month!

(Disclaimer: This Photo to the Left is Deadlift Photo from Google. NOT ME.)

In class on Thursday we did 1RM Deadlifts and I’ll be damned if I’m not STILL hurting in my external obliques from that (and trust me I’ve been foam rolling and stretching every day)! However, even with the gigantic class we had, and the random potpourri of plates I had on my bar, I am inexplicably elated to announce that somehow during my first set of 1RM deadlifts… I BROKE TWO HUNDRED! I PRed on Thursday at 210. I can’t even believe it myself. I think I could have gotten a touch farther if I hadn’t exhausted myself trying to figure go a bit more slowly… and I know I have some kinks in my form to work out that are going to help for sure as well. One of the girls at my box actually came over when I was struggling at the end and gave me some tips that I think will really help when my body is less fatigued then it was at that moment.

Additionally, my coach from that night is encouraging me to come to open gym at the box, and he offered to help personally coach me with oly… so I think I’m going to try and take advantage of that as soon as I have a chance!

Anyhow, heeeeeere are the stats:

Height: 5’5”

Weight: 155 [+2 (This Month)] [No Change (From Start)]

Waist: 31″[No Change (This Month)][-1″ (From Start)]

Hips: 35.5” [-1.75” (This Month)][-0.75″(From Start)]

R. Thigh: 23” [No Change (This Month)] [-1″(From Start)]

Upper Arm: 12” [No Change (This Month)] [No Change(From Start)]

I also ordered a scale that calculates & displays fat percentage so hopefully that will come soon and I can add that in here too. I think the weight is going to be pretty difficult since it SEEMS like I’m building muscle while losing fat… My scale has also been crazy this week and said I gained 10 pounds in the last 9 days… Which is crazytalk since I’ve been eating pretty much right on target and working out either on or above target. I suppose we’ll have to see if either of those things are true when the new  scale comes!

Lastly, I’m a little frustrated with the lack of progress this month but hopefully it’s strength building and I’ll be able to justify it that way. I *am* feeling better at the box — I can do more pushups and ringrows and burpees than I could when I started… and on Thursday at the WOD we were doing Cleans and PushJerks…. and front lifts with rack position are something that feels particularly unnatural to me… but I DESTROYED them. I had scaled down ten pounds but I probably didn’t even need to, which was a great feeling.
