Visiting Google Sydney!
Real Life, Travel

googleoffice2Bonus and I are excellent at making random global friends. It’s sort of what we do everywhere. Aside from the excellent addition of having people to hang out with and learn from when we meet these new friends, sometimes we get to visit them when they’re in their hometowns too!

When we realized that we were going to be in Sydney, we immediately contacted our friend David, who if you’ve been reading this blog for a bit, you’ll remember that we met in Munich on one of our guided tours. David lives and works in Sydney… and he happens to work at Google!

We were hoping to catch up with him for a drink or dinner or somesuch, but he actually invited us to come by his office for lunch… which we jumped at the chance for because, well, Google Sydney?! Come. On.

googleoffice3You’re not allowed to take photos in the Google office so I can’t really adequately express to you the awesomeness of their facilities… but they have three buildings right on the water, and we ate lunch in one of their cafes that had an outdoor seating area that overlooked the harbor. It was basically heaven. Dave showed us around and we got to check out a ton of the cool Google features (I got to see the “tech shop” wall where you can swipe your ID and “buy” tech items that you need for your work!), and mom, who was tagging along, got to sample their coffee bar, complete with baristas.

Basically, now I want to work for Google. Any city. Anyone want to recommend me?
