Conquering a Fear – Rope Climbs!
Crossfit, Real Life, Workout

I have to admit something….

I’ve been crossfitting since March of 2013 and I have never climbed a rope.

Never.

I tried once, maybe 6 months ago… My friend Lori (who has now become a spectacular L1!) was watching me and she made me stop halfway through because I couldn’t get the foot-lock down and I was essentially pulling myself up by my arms, and she was concerned I would get to the top and not be able to get back down.

“You’re very impressive, but you’re doing it wrong,” she told me, laughing.

Whoops.

I always seem to miss the workouts with rope climbs, so I didn’t really worry about it much. 20140915_20421220140915_204157

Then last night when I came in for olympic lifting, I saw that rope climbs had been programmed for the wod. I missed them, again.

I was lamenting this fact to my friend Stephanie, and she offered to give teaching me a shot…

GOT IT ON THE FIRST RUN!!!

Of course, we didn’t think that would happen so here are some pictures from the second take, AFTER OLY CLASS. Hell, yeah.

Oh, P.S. this is extra exciting because it happened while I was wearing one of my favorite workout tanks, “Train Like You’ve Been Picked for the Hunger Games.” Yep. I went there. #girlonfire
